ABOUT RON

Originally from Hollywood, Florida, Ron Lehmann spent his teenage years pounding out two-hundred-page novels and filming fantasy and science fiction movie shorts with his brother. After that, he graduated with a B.A., magna cum laude, from the University of Miami, Florida, majoring in English with minors in both history and French. Following a year of graduate work in literature at the University of Chicago, Ron decided against an academic career, and thereafter studied graphic design, painting, and futures trading while moonlighting as a business writer and newsletter designer in Chicago throughout the nineties. After discovering the joy of acting, beginning with numerous on-stage experiences in the Second City Improvisational school in Chicago and moving on to intensive Meisner studies at Chicago's Actor's Center, Ron decided to enroll in the film school at Columbia College Chicago, where he also minored in theater. In his first two years at Columbia, he won first and second place awards in the college's annual screenwriting contest, and thereafter focused on film directing. By his final year, he had scripted, directed, and completed eight original short films. In addition, he had already appeared, as either a lead or supporting character, in more than two dozen student and independent films; in the Columbia daytime drama series "South Loop;" and on Chicago stages ranging from the student theaters associated with Columbia College to private stages such as the Bailiwick Theater. On graduating, Ron interned in the development department at the Beacon Pictures movie production company in Santa Monica, California, while writing feature screenplays and carrying out the post-production work on his Columbia practicum film, "Jakob and the Angels," which was adapted from a short story by Audrey Niffenegger, author of the bestselling novel, The Time Traveler's Wife. Once post production on "Jakob" was completed, the film screened at 37 festivals and won 7 awards, including both the jury and audience awards in the category of children's films at Moondance, as well as "Best Fantasy" and "Best Short Film" at Dragon*Con. Ron Lehmann has greatly expanded his acting resume since he moved to Los Angeles, and remains a prolific writer, most recently completing 59 short scripts for a comedy webisode series. He has published short stories as well as nonfiction, winning an award for a textbook on hazardous wastes from the Chicago chapter of the Society for Technical Communication. As an actor, he has appeared in well over a hundred short films, webisodes, and videos, has had "under-5" and co-star roles in four "indie" feature films, and continues to fine-tune his craft through intensive scene study classes with Joe Palese at the Actor Space in Studio City, California. He has also studied on-camera commercial acting with Stuart K. Robinson in Culver City, California.
